For all those students out there: finals week can be a chaotic and stressful time. Check out these tips to make studying a little easier.
Tips to Make Studying Easier
- Sleep: Research shows that those who regularly get a good night's sleep retain information better.
- Eat Smart: Avoid skipping meals to provide your brain and busy schedule a break from the studying. When snacking, choose brain-food such as nuts, veggies, or fruits rather than sugary junk foods.
- Drink plenty of water and minimize caffeine intake: although coffee seems to be the go-to when studying, excessive coffee can lead to a lack of sleep and irritability. It is important to stay hydrated with lots of water.
Exercise and meditation: Taking a break from the books to workout or meditate can relieve stress and relax your mind.
Minimize the strain on your body: Try to take short breaks from staring at computers/tablet to reduce the strain on your eyes and mind. Looking at a computer for a prolonged period of time can cause fatigue faster. Also be conscious of your posture while studying. Slumping/slouching can cause aches and pains in your back.
